The postnatal season can leave women feeling changed in ways they were never fully prepared for — physically, hormonally, emotionally and mentally. Whether your birth was straightforward, complex, surgical, traumatic or somewhere in between, recovery deserves time, attention and proper care. At The Elara Clinic, we support women through the months after birth with thoughtful, specialist-led care that helps you understand what your body is holding, what needs support, and what should not be ignored.
Postnatal recovery is shaped by sleep, feeding, nutrition, support, mental load and the demands of caring for a baby. We help women make sense of exhaustion, depletion, breastfeeding or bottle-feeding challenges, and the practical care they may need to feel steadier through this stage.
Many women experience pelvic floor symptoms, pain with sex, bladder changes, bowel changes, prolapse symptoms or discomfort that they feel embarrassed to raise. These concerns are common, but they are not something you have to silently tolerate. We offer careful assessment, education and referral pathways where needed.
The postnatal period can bring sudden mood shifts, anxiety, overwhelm, low mood, rage, intrusive thoughts, night sweats, fatigue and a sense of not feeling like yourself. We help you explore what may be contributing to these changes and guide you toward safe, appropriate support.
We support women recovering from vaginal birth, assisted birth, tearing, C-sections, pelvic heaviness, abdominal weakness, scar discomfort and changes in movement or strength. Our role is to help you understand what is healing well, what may need further support, and when referral or treatment is appropriate.
Postnatal recovery is not a single appointment or a simple return to “normal.” It is a layered season of healing, adjustment and change — and you deserve care that recognises the full weight of what your body has been through.
Sophie came to The Elara Clinic four months after the birth of her second baby, Oliver.
She was exhausted in a way that sleep alone did not fix. Her periods had returned heavier than before. She felt anxious most evenings, had ongoing tenderness around her pelvic floor, and was avoiding intimacy because she was worried something was wrong. She also felt guilty for struggling because everyone kept telling her she should be enjoying this stage.
During her first appointment, Sophie was given time to talk through the full picture — her birth, feeding, sleep, cycle changes, pain, mood, support at home and what had shifted since becoming a mother again.
We arranged further investigation, discussed postnatal depletion, referred her to a trusted pelvic health physiotherapist, and created a care plan that included follow-up support for her mood, hormones and physical recovery.
"I began to feel clearer about what my body needed, thanks to the Élara Clinic. I had language for my symptoms, a plan for recovery, and reassurance that I had not been failing or doing anything wrong. I recovered so quickly after my first, so kept beating myself up for not having the same experience again. I now feel better than I ever have 12 months postpartum."
You can book anytime after birth, whether you are six weeks postpartum or several months into motherhood. Many women come to us when they feel physically uncomfortable, emotionally overwhelmed, hormonally unsettled or unsure whether their recovery is progressing as it should.
No. If you are experiencing pain, heavy bleeding, mood changes, anxiety, wound concerns, feeding difficulties or anything that feels worrying, you do not need to wait. Early support can help you feel safer, clearer and better guided.
Yes. We support women recovering from C-section birth, including scar discomfort, abdominal weakness, pain, numbness, mobility concerns, emotional processing and questions around what is normal during surgical recovery.
Postnatal emotional changes are important and deserve proper care. We can help you explore what may be contributing to how you feel, discuss support options, and refer you to appropriate mental health care if needed.
Your practitioner will take time to understand your birth, recovery, symptoms, mood, cycle, feeding experience, sleep, support and overall wellbeing. From there, we may recommend investigations, treatment options, allied health referrals or follow-up care depending on what you need.
"My appointment at The Elara Clinic was calm, thorough and validating. I came in feeling overwhelmed and left with a clear plan, language for what I was experiencing, and the sense that someone was finally taking my symptoms seriously."

I was nervous about hiring someone to help with my website, but WOW—this was the best decision I could have made. The process was smooth, fun, and super collaborative. I finally feel like my brand looks as professional as the work I’m doing behind the scenes!
